What about a visit to Port Glasgow on the west coast of Scotland to see the Port Glasgow Comet Festival as part of the town’s 250th anniversary celebrations.

The annual Comet Festival event took place on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd June 2025 at Coronation Park.

In this video: we only cover the Saturday.

You can watch the Comet Festival 2025 Parade.
Official opening ceremony.

We speak to Inverclyde Provost Drew McKenzie about the 250th anniversary of Port Glasgow and take a look at the Shipbuilders of Port Glasgow sculpture (the Skelpies).

We take a walk through the festival on the Saturday, it was a great atmosphere, the weather throughout the day was lovely.

We also take a walk through the Newark Castle here in Port Glasgow, the castle was free to visitors over the weekend as part of the festival thanks to Historic Environment Scotland.
